The best tips when creating your Halloween display

Autumn is here, bringing a wealth of shop floor display themes to take advantage of. It’s the season to make up warming, cosy displays, and you can find great tips to help you in our previous blog, but in this blog, we’re going to get spooky, helping you create some of scariest, spine-tingling, hair-raising and of course, entertaining Halloween displays.

Halloween has really taken off in the UK, and we’re catching up with our friends across the pond. Incorporating a little bit of Halloween magic into your shop floor and window displays is a great way to have some fun with your customers and boost sales at the same time.

Our top tips will ensure you get the most out of the season. Here are our Halloween display ideas.

Get your staff involved

Getting your staff on board with your Halloween theme is a great way to add some depth to your display. Give them a few options to choose from, whether it’s creepy makeup, a full costume, or just a few accessories.

Once your staff is in the mood, adding a few interactive displays can work a treat. Think apple bobbing stations, pumpkin carving, and trick-or-treat lucky dips.

Get creative with your mannequins

Mannequins come in all shapes and sizes and can be easily adapted to add frightening delights to your Halloween display. Use mannequin busts to create a headless ghoul or mannequin heads to add a truly macabre feel to your display.

A touch of imagination is all it takes, with a whole host of mannequins for sale.

Use your shop window display to feed customers’ curiosities

You can make the most of your Halloween window display and use the space to entice your customers’ curiosities. There’s so much to choose from, from spider webs to tombstones, witches to werewolves. Consider your stock when choosing a display theme, and include your merchandise in your Halloween window displays.

Your window display is a great place to add some interactivity to bring customers inside your store. Halloween is the perfect time for some revolting riddles, adding some mystery to your display. Arrange some small prizes for customers with the right answers.

Scarier isn’t necessarily better

Remember, Halloween is a time for children, and whilst most kids love a gentle scare, going full-on Nightmare on Elm Street will likely result in a few tears and lost customers. If children are your main target audience, stick with Jack-o’-Lanterns, sweets, goodies and spells and hold back on the screams, poltergeists and serial killers.

Be creative with your Halloween product lines

If you sell costumes, pumpkins, party items, and sweet treats, it’ll be easy to incorporate them into your Halloween display. If not, you can still get involved. Any product can be turned into a devilish display with a bit of imagination. A witch’s kitchen, complete with a bubbling cauldron, would definitely enchant your customers and fit nicely if you sell home goods. For an outward-bound store, misty moons and evil elves could fit in nicely.
